| I have a USAmp Merlin and im running it at .5 ohm and the only time it has shut down is when it blew the 3 40 amp fueses. Should i just find bigger fueses or run 2 ohm for daily? the sub is one of my home made riggs made from FI bl D1s 4 spiders Mojo motor/basket and Q-power surround and last but not least dc dust cap. lol I dont think it is as loud as my REs but its gonna have to do till i get better. | |

| Unless you like getting amps replaced I wouldn't run it that low for daily really no point. Just get a bigger amp if it doesn't give you enough power. | |

+1 Way to hard on that amp for daily.

| It's 1,500 watts rme @ 1 ohm. Most people would think that's plenty of power. But NO not me! Lol | |

people would think that's plenty of power. But NO not me! Lol The problem is not the fact it does not make a HUGE amount of power at 1ohm. The amp is not made to designed to safely run at lower than 1ohm. Even if you can get it to run music the life span will be much shorter. When burping at your peak tone you are usually seeing a nice ohm rise at this frequency. So even though the amp is wired for .5 impedance to the amp, at that tone it is actually seeing higher. Say 2ohm(could be less or more depending on your rise at particular frequency). While playing music it is trying to play a wide frequency range and will see all the way down to .5ohm(If not even a tad lower). As the tones/frequencies change so does the Impedance of the woofer. If you need more power for daily buy a new amp now or later. Doesn't matter to me, but either way you will be buying one. Either for more power like you really want or because your 1ohm stable amp just finally died from being worked way too hard.

| This is just a representation of what I mean. Random woofer and plot, but you can get the idea of how impedance changes with frequency change. Your actual woofer, enclosure, even placement will effect what your plot really is. | |

| What about using 1 coil for 1 ohm? Iv always herd u should run all coils but it sounds better at 1 ohm. Even on 1 coil. | |

MYTH and untrue at that... One of the reasons they make dvc sub is to give you MULTIPLE ways to wire them. You can do this safely. The one thing to consider/remeber though is the sub will not handle the full rated power with just one coil. It will only handle about 70% rated power handling using one coil.

It will only handle about 70% rated power handling using one coil. it doesnt work too good on split coil subs, atleast not on the XXXs, but like james said, it works but cant handle as much power.

| I decided to run both coils. It got louder at 1 but it was more accurate with both. But it bangs way harder at .5. I wonder how hard it would be to mod it so it would run on that daily. | |

| It's at 2 ohm now but it's too quiet (no balls) I figure about 138db. It's about as loud as the xxx was but tunned lower. | |

| What's the chances of the amp being reliable at .5 cuz it doesn't shut down and doesn't get hot. It actually gets hotter at a higher ohm and shuts down at idle. If I don't lesten to it it will get hot and shut down. what's up with that? But if I play the piss out of it it's happy. Like a chevy! | |
