Just starting out on a serious build on my 97 F-150 ext cab.

These two pics show the damping install. The headliner has single layer Fat Mat. The floor and doors have double (and in some spots triple) layer Fat Mat covered with two coats of Fat Mat's paste.

I should have some pics of the door panels in progress soon. Each door will have two 6.5" MB Quarts and one JL 8W0. I'm also doing a blow-thru for a single 18" Nightshade in the bed in a tapped horn enclosure. I haven't bought the batteries or sub amp yet, but I'm looking closely at AQ and Sundown for amps and XS for batteries. I'm still open to suggestions or good deals for these two things.

I was able to get the door panels layed out yesterday. The baffle for the 8" is 3/4" MDF. I spent some time getting the shape I wanted with foam and body filler. Both panels have the first layer of fiberglass on them to hold the shape before I fleece wrap them for the next layer. More pics when the next step is done.

I'm digging all this verbal support. I should be able to get more layers of glass (and pics) done tomorrow. I also have a DD M3A on the way.

I'm still up in the air on batteries.

3 yards of fleece and 2 gallons of resin later. . .

And then I ground the top layer of resin smooth to make finishing them much quicker.

I'll follow this up with a very thin coat of body filler and some high build primer before I reattach the top half of the panel.

High-build primer is my new best friend!

I still need to reattach the top half of the panel, but setting it on there for the pic gives a better idea of how things are shaping up.

I was able to finish the metal work on the blow thru today. With a little bit of luck, I might even start building the enclosure this weekend.

I used aluminum sheeting that was left over from the days that my family ran a dirt late model. I figure if it survived all the stress and flex that race cars get, it should be ok for a blow thru. It's riveted every 3" and silicone sealed on the front and back. I'm also going to put a layer of expanding foam on the outside of it for additional sealing and damping.

Thanks guys, I just wish I had a sheet metal brake to do this. All those panels are hand formed with a 2X6 piece of pine and a hammer; they are not as pretty as I would like them to be, but nothing ever really is.

I also bought batteries today. Two Kinetik HC2400s. Not what I was planning, but a deal that I couldn't pass up.

Didn't get much done today, it was too dang hot. I did figure out where the batteries are going and started building the mounting box for them.

I had some copper donated to build the bus bars. It's 3/16" thick and about 2" wide so I think it will do nicely. I just need to get my spacing correct for the existing holes and battery terminals. I will have 6 (3 pos, 3 ground) runs of 1/0 to them from the front battery and the M3A has only one set of inputs. Good thing it will be within 6" of the bus bars.

Anyone ever do double runs of 1/0 for a "big three" upgrade?

With school starting back up, I haven't gotten much progress made recently. I have the mdf cut for the floor in the bed and for the rear seat base/battery mount. The bed floor is water stained because I had drilled out a rivet to replace it, the messed around and didn't. The truck sat out in the rain for two days and all the water from the bed cover drained through that little hole into the bed. It's a floor piece and will not be part of the actual enclosure, so I'll probably just paint it and not worry about replacing it. It just depends on how much mdf I have left at the end of the build.

.

I've also made some more progress on the doors, but forgot to take pics. I'll post em up as soon as I take some.

With school back in session, it will be hard to make progress.

I was able to fit the door panels to the truck and get all the speakers wired and mounted. There is tons more work needed on the doors, but I can throw in an amp and have tunes now.

I have alot more then double, like quadruple plus in my truck, I have 4 1/0 just from my alt bracket to frame, bolt welded to frame on upper a arm horn, and bolt welded to back of alt bracket.
