The rule book is changing a little, but I will have a new copy on the forum as soon as it is finalized.

Area = Pi * radius ^2 is the formula. First thing you need to do is find the radius which is half the circle. We will use a 12 inch speaker for a example. 12 divided by 2 = 6. Now that we have radius we times it by its self to get radius squared. 6 x 6 = 36. Once we have radius ^2. We times it with Pi. 36 x 3.14 = 113.04 square inches in a 12 inch sub.

113.04 = 3.14 * 36

Square subs are much easier to figure. To figure a square sub it is simple. area = length * width. so a 12 inch square sub would be 12 * 12 = 144 square inches.
