2009 Rules

Post by Jeff Sanford on Wed May 13, 2009 9:54 pm

Arkansas SPL
Rulebook

General Rules:

1. All metering will be done using the Term-Lab SPL sensor. Competitors may have someone hold the meter for them if they wish, but ARSPL will not provide someone.

2. Entry fee for each normal event will be $25.00 per entry. With this you will receive (2) 30 second runs. During these runs the highest SPL achieved during each run will be your score. Both of your runs must be taken back to back.

3. Re-runs are a good way to figure out how to get your car louder. Re-runs can be purchased for $5.00 per single run until 1 hour of the end of the show.

4. The competitor may have their vehicle running during their run as long as they have the emergency brake set.

5. In case of a tie, there will be a run off between the competitors in the tie. The competitor with the highest score will be declared the winner.

6. Competitors may use any music format they choose. This includes: test tones, sine sweeps, MP3’s, commercially available CD’s and burned CD’s.

7. Music must be played through an audio device such as CD players, CD changers, MP3 players or hard drives.

8. Competitors may choose to open their doors, windows, or other openings in the car during the metering process. They are not to be slammed though.

9. Arkansas SPL and its judges reserves the right to inspect a competitor’s vehicle. During an inspection the competitor will be asked to show their vehicle and sound system. If the competitor does not allow the head judge to verify their vehicle then that competitor’s score shall be eliminated and the competitor disqualified from the event and no refund will be given.

These inspections may include but are not limited to.
A: The vehicles electrical system
B: The vehicles sound system
C: The subwoofer enclosure

10. All the rules will be based upon their intent and the ruling of the head judge is FINAL!

11. At times there may be certain rules or guidelines that are not printed in this rule book. There also may be times that certain rules need amended, modified, changed, reworded or added too in an effort to keep within the spirit or intent of Arkansas SPL.

12. In some cases a competitor meeting will take place prior to the event. It is your responsibility to know the information discussed at this meeting. Meetings will be announced prior to the event date.

13. Competitors caught intentionally cheating will be Banned from Arkansas SPL for LIFE.

Classification and classes

1. Competitors are classified by the components of their sound system and their installation.

2. All subwoofers inside the competitor’s car will be counted in calculating the cone area. A passive radiator will not be counted providing you can prove that it isn’t hooked up and receiving power.

3. Classes Voltage regulation Battery's Allowed
0-250 12v-14.7 max stock battery
251-500 12v-14.7 max stock battery +1
501-750 12v- 14.7 max stock battery +2
751-UP Unlimited Unlimited
port battles unlimited unlimited

4. Port Battles is a class that is put together for people to have a cheap way to get loud. In this class you will be able to put the MIC anywhere in the car, including the port. The MIC will be removed from the globe for this class also.

5. Competitors that build wall, remove seats (this does not apply to vehicles with jump seats), or have a bed cut will have to run in the top two classes. Their class will be determined by the equipment they are running.

6. The main objective of Arkansas SPL is to have fun and promote car audio competitions. We want to make it fun for the competitors, spectators, and the retailers. We encourage input from all competitors, retailers, and spectators whether it is at the show, at our online forum (arspl.forumotion.net) or via email (jeff@arkansasspl.com).

7. A good way to make your car louder is talking to other competitors. Most people don’t mind trying to help out others.

8. Arkansas SPL has the right to refuse entry to any competitor if needed, or move any competitor to a higher class based on his/her previous experience.

9. The rules may change during the season, but all rule changes will be sent out via email, announced on our forum, and we will have a copy of all current rules at each event.
